This is a necklace I made in memory of my Grandpa. I love & miss him very much. This picture was taken when he was younger of course, nevertheless he was Hollywood material physically speaking.

This is a mixed media transfer soldered between two pieces of microscopic slides.

Here are what I think are the best 3 out of many shots I took on a recent visit to the local downtown graveyard. My new friend Wendel from work gave me some good advice & convinced me to buy this camera....I'm glad I listened. I love this camera! With his help that day & pointers this is what I got. Enjoy!

Hike Picture....

I'm into taking pictures now. I went on a hike with a friend on his farm & borrowed his digital camera to take this photo of an old fence on his property. I think it turned out great so I finally broke down & bought my own camera this week.

The ad you see above was published in the Tullahoma News sometime between FEB-April 2001. I had just lost my dog Lasher and had just purchased a house with a big back yard for him. Soon after I saw this ad in the paper with this poor 14 yr. old dog. I asked myself, "Who would adopt an old dog like that?" I couldn't get him off my mind. I went right up to the shelter and no sooner than the lady took me back to see him, he came running to me. He picked me too. Actually, the look on his face was "Get me the hell out of here!" So I did that very day.

Blackie was an incredible dog. My "old man" from the beginning. He lasted a long time too. This past Tuesday, Dec. 18th, 2007 to be exact, I had to put the old man to rest. At a few months short of 21 years old, this guy still had the mind of a puppy...just a failing body.

Having lived on a big farm with my Mom the last few years, he was very, very happy. He was a big part of my family & we will all miss him very much.

I love you Blackie & I miss you so much. You came along at a time in my life when I needed a good friend. Thank you so much.

Gourd Fairy-Layla

This fairy is made out of a banana gourd (body) and a small gourd for the head. This one is named after my Great Aunt Layla. Layla loves fancy clothes & shoes and she reminds me of an American Princess even at the age 88!

This is a watercolor painting I did last night. However- I did not draw the birds. I used a different technique of printing black & white onto the watercolor paper and then painting the birds themselves.

This is my first attempt at Mosaic. I was with my Bonus-Daughter Brooke at a place called Pottery by You near Huntsville. I picked the cat and I love the color blue, thus came about the BLUE KAT!

I made this fish out of recycled beer caps....and you ask, "did I drink all the beer?" Of course not! (hiccup)

Made from primarily Miller Lite, Sierra Nevada & Heineken Caps. The fins & tail are made from Pop Tops.

He is a whopper! It was very fun to make and quite the challenge.

Save all your caps for me!

This skull is made entirely out of Beer Bottle Caps. My first attempt to create some sort of mosaic/picture thingy. I added a Spanish flair to it. Day of the Dead sort of thing. It's only the first; I can do better.

Dabbling in Mixed Media Collage

Today I started something new & I have to say quite hard for me. I am much the realist and it's hard for me to "let go" and produce things off the top of my head. I think I found something to help. Mixed Media Collage. A collaboration of various materials & elements. I think it is helping me to loosen up a bit.

I didn't want to spend a lot of money buying pictures for my newely decorated bathroom and all along I wanted to do something creative for it myself. So my new bath was my inspiration for these....& blue is My Favorite Color!

The "Keg" Ring

I took a recent trip "Gold Digging" in a part of lower Alabama that is known for quality gold (22-24 kt.) Along with the gold, I found this beautiful rough stone. I decided right away to make a ring out of it. Not bad for my first wire ring. I can't wait to make more.

Oh what funny interviews....

I have to laugh, you will too. I've lucked up with some job interviews this week. But I have to tell you its been quite comical to say the least. Here is a good one.

I go in for the interview, fill out the necessary paperwork, get thru the little "memory" test they give and finally get my foot into the door of the head honcho, who is Veterinarian by the way. A pretty young girl is sitting with us with both asking me all sorts of questions. Finally towards the end the Vet states they are looking for someone long term. This is right up my alley.....I dream of long term....so I look around and reply, "Do more vets work here?" and to my surprise, no more Vets. Just 2 young techs & this gentleman before me. Folks, the man had to be pushing 80 years old. Bless his creature-loving heart, the cataracts in his eyes were thicker than the half & half I put in my coffee....and he is concerned about long term.....I am just saying it was a funny moment for me....nothing against my elders...you just had to be there.

Pictured is a mixed media painting called simply "Blosom" that I created today. It was hard to get a good shot with the camera. Enjoy.

WATERCOLOR! "See, Sea Turtle" 2005

I have always wanted to learn Watercolor. So while living in Florida our local city was offering summer classes for painting and Watercolor caught my eye. I took the class with a wonderful instructor named Bob Hague. Classes were on Sat and the very following day, after my very first class, I painted this turtle.

I couldn't believe how good it turned out with just the few basics that I had learned the day before. This painting gave me the bug and I have been painting watercolor ever since.

Jim and I are finally pretty settled near Huntsville Alabama. Jim is enjoying his new workplace at the Newspaper and me, well, happily unemployed for the moment, but not for long. However, I have been very busy with my hobbies, which is why you are here right?
